FIRST CAREER 35 YEARS:
Ken has had a previous career in the technical field of commercial photo laboratories owning two of N.Z.'s largest Labs. The original Lab was founded by Ken & a business partner, then a buy-out took over a large competitor. Over a period of 35 years, eleven different new highly successful companies were founded which all operated simultaneously. These included a chain of Camera Stores, One Hour Mini Labs, and a large Importing & N.Z. wide Distribution Company specializing in chemicals, sensitised papers, electronics, and lab machinery. Considerable international business experience was also gained over many years of being the NZ representatives for a large Japanese Company.


SECOND CAREER: 29 years, Sailing & International Marine Industry
An opportunity arrived in 1987-88 to sell the above eleven companies and have time to spend enjoying a life-time passion of sailing. Firstly building a 31 foot high performance Farrier Trimaran. The Trimaran was a  do-it-yourself   boat building project for personal use. Originally a retirement 'hobby' project but this quickly lead to everyone else admiring the FARRIER Trimaran and receiving many requests for more to be built. A great personal relationship soon developed with the international designer, Ian Farrier who was at that time an ex-patriot New Zealander living in the USA.
Ian knew of our long previous international business experience and was confident to use this to assist with the marketing of his design plan portfolio. We now also offer design plans from other well known international designers.
